redevelopment of

East Street in Southampton – blocked for decades by the East Street Shopping Centre – is set to be restored as an open pedestrian thoroughfare that will re-link St Mary's with the city centre. The centre's replacement with the retail attraction of a new Morrisons food store will increase footfall in East Street, improve trade for existing retailers and help to stimulate further regeneration of this part of the city centre.

The redevelopment is being undertaken on behalf of the London & Henley Property Group by urban regeneration specialist, Centros. Following Southampton City Council's planning committee's recent resolution to grant planning consent, we will be working with both the council and key stakeholders over coming months with the aim of starting on site in mid 2013 and opening the new Morrisons in late 2014.
